ALL INFORMATION ON THIS PAGE HAS BEEN UPDATED FOR THE UPCOMING 2025-26 CLUB SEASON!
WHAT iS CLUB VOLLEYBALL?
Club volleyball is a "select" volleyball training program for elementary, junior high and high school athletes outside of their school system. Practices are held throughout the week and matches are played in a tournament format on weekends. Most club teams play in 6-10 tournaments throughout the course of this 4-6 month season. The tournaments feature round-robin pool play followed by bracketed playoffs. Some tournaments are one-day events and others are two-day events. Club volleyball is a fee-based program where teams are selected following tryouts. The costs involved with club volleyball cover court rental, coach salaries & registration, equipment costs, tournament entry fees and administrative expenses. In Ohio, club volleyball is governed by the Ohio Valley Region (OVR) and USA Volleyball (USAV). Players and clubs must also adhere to rules set by the OHSAA (Ohio High School Athletic Association) regarding out of season/non-school athletic participation.
The organizations that govern youth volleyball in Ohio include USAV/OVR (us association of volleyball/ohio valley region), JVA (junior volleyball association), and/or AAU (amatuer athletic union). Our teams will be classified as National, American, and Regional. Our National teams will either be USAV or JVA member teams that consist of higher caliber athletes who play in highly competitive events including multi-day tournaments which typically entail high entry costs and more significant travel. Most of our National level teams will end the season at USAV Nationals or AAU National Championships which are held in June or July. All of our Regional teams and most of our American teams will be USAV/OVR member teams - our Regional teams will consist of a athletes (in terms of caliber) who want to learn the fundamentals of the sport, gain playing experience and play tournaments that are more local or regional in nature. Our American division teams fall somewhere in between the National & Regional divisions in terms of player caliber/skill and commitment. Each club structures teams in these divisions differently so make sure to look at what is included at each division within a club to make comparisons between different clubs.
So, if you ARE interested in AiR CiTY CHiX tryout-based "select" club, travel teams; KEEP READING! The information below is about these teams! If you are interested in opportunities that are designed for beginner players or programs that entail less of a financial and time commitment, please visit our TRAINING PROGRAMS PAGE where you can read about camps, clinics, and other training opportunities we offer that do not involve tryouts and the six-month commitment that comes with our club teams!

2025-2026 USAV, JVA & AAU VOLLEYBALL GiRLS' JUNiORS' AGE DEFiNiTiONS
Players can determine their AGE GROUP ELIGIBILITY using either their BIRTHDATE (including year) or the GRADE THEY WILL BE IN SCHOOL next fall. Players wishing to play on a NATIONAL DIVISION OR on a JVA or AAU team MUST use only their BIRTHDATE to determine which age group they are eligible for. Players wishing to play on an OVR (ohio valley region) AMERICAN or REGIONAL DIVISION teams can use either their birthdate or simply the grade they will be in school next fall to determine their age group - these players are considered to be "grade level" or "waivered" players. PLEASE NOTE: grade level players CAN ONLY play on our OVR American or Regional division teams.
Players who are OLDER than many of their classmates in school may be considered a "grade level" or "waivered" player who can play with their classmates on an OVR American or Regional team, but who would have to play "up" in the age group determined by their birthdate/year in order to play on a National team (or a JVA or AAU sanctioned team). ALL players can use their BIRTHDATE (and year) to determine what age group they are eligible to play in; but, players who have early birthdays and are older than many of their classmates MAY be able to use their GRADE in school to determine their age group and be able to play with their classmates. And, players who are YOUNGER than most of their classmates in school may actually be able to play in a younger age group based on their BIRTHDATE. These younger players are NOT considered "grade level" players, they are simply players who CAN play in a younger age group because their birthdate/year allows them to do so; however, they are NOT REQUIRED to play in the younger age group and can play in the age group determined by their grade, with their classmate peers.
PLEASE NOTE: When you are trying to determine your age group, PLEASE DO NOT simply look at a player's CURRENT AGE (or age at the time of tryouts), but rather look at her BIRTHDATE/YEAR and/or GRADE in school for next fall. In other words, "My daughter is 12 years old, so she should try out for 12-and-under." This statement may or may not be accurate - you must use her birthdate/year first and, possibly, her grade in school for next fall to determine her age group.
IF YOU ARE UNSURE OF WHAT AGE GROUP YOU WILL BE IN, please SEND US AN EMAIL with the player's birthdate (including year) and the grade she will be in when school starts up in the fall. CLICK HERE TO SEND AN EMAIL about your player's age division.

2025-2026 AiR CiTY CHiX CLUB FEES
Our 2025-26 club fees (posted above with each team description) will cover club expenses including but not limited to: practice court rental, tournament entry fees, one longsleeve dryfit "warm-up" shirt for all players, coaches' salaries, administrative functions, registration fees for coaches, equipment costs, AND coaches' tournament expenses.
PLEASE NOTE that AiR CiTY CHiX club fees for the 2025-26 season will ALREADY INCLUDE: coaches' tournament expense money and ALL tournament entry costs INCLUDING USAV or AAU Nationals (for teams scheduled to play in these events). Our club fees DO NO include player uniform costs (jerseys, spandex, warm-ups, etc).
NOTE: For teams that we register as USAV/OVR teams, players will have to renew or obtain USAV/OVR membership fees SEPARATE from any CHiX fees - for 2025-26, we expect the cost of these two memberships combined to be $67 per player; this combined $67 fee will be paid directly by the player to USAV/OVR. Players on our JVA member teams DO NOT have to register with USAV/OVR and will NOT need to pay the $67 membership fee (on their own); instead they have JVA combined membership/insurance fees of $50 that have already been included in the above-listed fees. The CHiX will take care of purchasing/obtaining JVA memberships and insurance for these teams.
FEE PAYMENT SCHEDULE
Once a player accepts either an "EARLY OFFER" with us in June or a tryout-based offer with us in either July or October, their acceptance form will INCLUDE a required payment of a portion of their full club fee! Players CAN opt to pay the FULL fee upon offer acceptance as well; but, only the stipulated intitial payment will be required on acceptance. Most players on our 14's thru 18's teams will then have equal amounts of the BALANCE of any fees automatically withdrawn on SEPTEMBER 1, 2025 and DECEMBER 1, 2025 respectively. Players who accept offers during tryouts in October for our 11's thru 13's teams will PAY A PRE-SET AMOUNT with their acceptance in October and will then have equal amounts of the BALANCE of their fees automatically withdrawn from their payment method on NOVEMBER 30, 2025 and DECEMBER 30, 2025 respectively. All fees must be paid online by credit card or bank check via the Sportsengine application. All Sportsengine "processing fees" will be covered by AiR CiTY CHiX.
PLAYER & PARENT TRAVEL EXPENSES
Player's (and family) own personal travel costs (transportation, food & hotel accommodations) are NOT INCLUDED in our club fees. Players and their families are responsible for these items on their own and in addition to the above-posted CHiX fees.

2025-2026 AiR CiTY CHiX CLUB RULES & POLiCiES
GENERAL POLiCiES
Our policies have been established to protect all members of AiR CiTY CHiX (players and coaches alike). We ask that you respect yourselves and other members of this club when making decisions that could affect any of us.
We hope that AiR CiTY CHiX becomes known as a classy program, one that promotes ethical decision making, great sportsmanship (in victory and defeat), and respect for the game and its proponents. Please help us create this type of a program by adhering to our policies and procedures - consequences for breaking these rules/policies are then described in the "suspension & expulsion" section below:
- Players must wear regular and "full" t-shirts to practice. Shirts must be full length, full-sleeved t-shirts that completely cover the waistband of player's spandex. Cut-off shirts or exposure of midriff skin is not acceptable and won't be tolerated. Please dress like an athlete.
- Players ARE NOT PERMITTED to wear jewelry or chew gum during CHiX practices or tournaments - no exceptions.
- Parents may not approach coaches during practice or tournaments to discuss any type of conflict situation. Coaches will be happy to schedule time with parents (and player) to discuss and, hopefully, resolve the conflict. Failure to adhere to this policy will result in the player being SUSPENDED from two practices (detailed in suspension/expulsion policies below)!
- All players will get playing time during POOL PLAY at tournaments although EQUAL playing time is not guaranteed. During BRACKET PLAY, coaches reserve the right to "play to win" which might mean that some players would not get playing time during these matches.
- Parents are responsible for securing transportation to and from practices and tournaments for their daughter. Parents, please be respectful of your coaches' time and be onsite to pick your daughter up when a practice is scheduled to end
- Once a player accepts a position with AiR CiTY CHiX, she is responsible for paying ALL club fees even if injury precludes her from participating in any/all tournaments. Players who choose to discontinue their season (for any reason) are obligated to pay all pre-determined fees and will not be awarded any refunds. Any exceptions to this are at the discretion of the club director and head coach.
- Failure to pay club fee installments by designated deadlines will result in consequences as described in the Suspension & Expulsion section below. If you cannot meet an established payment deadline, you must contact the club director, IN ADVANCE of the deadline, to make other arrangements.
- Inappropriate behavior by PLAYERS or PARENTS will simply not be tolerated at any AiR CiTY CHiX practices, tournaments or events. This includes, but is not limited to foul language, rude or inappropriate gestures, general disrespect of other persons or property, and other similarly derisive behavior.
- Bullying and/or verbal or emotional abuse will not be tolerated - this includes, but is not limited to, action/language/social media posts directed at teammates, coaches, other members of the CHiX, opponents, parents or fans. Please think before you speak, type, or act; and ask yourself if your words/actions might be hurtful to someone else or may cause dissention within your team.
- CHiX players, parents and coaches are required to observe a 48-hour "cool-off" period following tournaments you are participating/playing in before approaching one another and/or club staff requesting a meeting/conversation about any tournament situations that may be of a confrontational or stressful tone... this would include, but not be limited to things like:
a) players and/or parents wanting to discuss playing time
b) coaches who are "fired up" after a poor team showing/performance wanting to conduct an extended post-game meeting with their team
c) players and/or parents wanting to know why a coach made a coaching decision (which they perceive to be "unfavorable") in the tournament.
- Players and teams are required to officiate and scorekeep during tournaments, this is a USAV, AAU and JVA rule. Our USAV players ages 13 and up are required to obtain OVR certification in either scorekeeping or down officiating. 12-and-under players are required to obtain OVR scorekeeping certification. ALL CHiX players must know how and be able to line judge and libero track during tournaments. More information about these "officiating" duties, requirements and training will be communicated to players and parents via email following tryouts and team selection.
- Players are required to wear AiR CiTY CHiX apparel at ALL tournaments (t-shirts, warm-up shirts, sweats, warm-up suits). Wearing other volleyball apparel is NOT PERMITTED at tournament venues (in the gym/playing area). Non-compliance of this policy will result in a ONE-MATCH suspension for each occurence. This non-compliance DOES include wearing "tournament apparel" while at the venue, with your teams.
- Players will not be permitted to leave a tournament site until all officiating responsibilities have been completed by her team and the team has been "released" by the head coach.
- For safety reasons, players may not leave a practice site or tournament venue without notifying the coach and obtaining their permission.
- During multi-day tournaments that require overnight lodging, players must room with their parent/guardian or with a teammate and that player's parent/guardian. Players will not be allowed to room in an unchaperoned room.
- AiR CiTY CHiX will charge a $25 fee for any returned checks.
ATTENDANCE
AiR CiTY CHiX recognizes and supports the fact that many of our athletes may also play other school sports and may be involved in other school or extra-curricular activities. We also recognize how difficult it is to put a team together when coaches or members of that team are absent during training sessions. Our attendance policy is designed to try to accommodate busy schedules AND our goal of developing better volleyball players and worthy teams.
- Player MUST notify team coach(es) whenever she is going to miss practice or arrive more than 15 minutes late for practice. This notification should be given at least 24 hours in advance. Team coach(es) will inform you of the best method for contacting them.
- Missing one and/or both practices DIRECTLY BEFORE a tournament date WILL result in a loss of playing time AT the tournament in question or at the next tournament at which the player is present - the extent of this "loss of playing time" will be at the head coach's discretion (and will be communicated to the team at their pre-season team meeting).
- Missing any part of a tournament will count as one absence and will also result in a loss of playing time at THE NEXT tournament (again, the extent of playing time loss will be at the head coach's discretion)
- Players who have "regular" absences may also suffer playing time loss as deemed appropriate by the head coach of the team. Coaches are asked to notify player and parent when attendance is becoming an issue and may result in loss of playing time at tournaments.
- Regardless of the reason, a player may not incur more than 10 absences. The 10th occurrence will result in a review by the team coaches and Club Director and may result in suspension from the team/club. Expulsion from the club is a possible consequence for continued absences after exceeding the initial 10 absences.
- NONE of the TOURNAMENTS that are listed for your team are considered OPTIONAL events; for any and all events that are listed, entered and publicized for your team, your daughter is expected to attend and participate under all "normal" circumstances.
SUSPENSiON & EXPULSiON
AiR CiTY CHiX' coaches and club directors have the authority to suspend players for up to FIVE (5) DAYS from practices, tournaments, and team activities for inappropriate conduct, bullying, disrespect, or failure to comply with the "general" club policies listed above and/or team policies that are communicated during pre-season team meeting. Notification of this suspension will be delivered by the coach via phone call or in person to the player and player's parent in question along with an email notification to the player's parents with the club director copied.
PARENTS/GUARDIANS who are found intimidating, harassing, yelling at and/or approaching the officiating "support" crew, any hired officials, CHiX players, parents and/or coaches, or any opposing players, coaches or parents when our teams are at club tournaments; AND/OR parents or players who violate the above-written "48-hour Cool-Off" policy will be dealt with as follows:
- If this behavior is witnessed by an AiR CiTY CHiX' coach, the coach will issue a verbal warning to the parent, will follow-up with an email to the parent that reiterates the warning, and will notify the club director.
- If this behavior is reported to AiR CiTY CHiX by anyone else (from within or outside of our club), the incident will be investigated by the club director and, if found to be valid, the parent(s) involved will be issued a verbal warning by the club director and will also receive a follow-up email that reiterates the warning.
- Following either of the above-stated warnings, if this or similar behavior either 1) continues or 2) happens again; the player(s) of that parent(s) will be SUSPENDED for 10-DAYS from AiR CiTY CHiX' practices, tournaments, and team activities. Notification of this suspension will be delivered by club director, tina jasinowski, via phone call and email to the parent(s) of the impacted player(s).
- Any additional occurrences of this type of behavior, during or after the initial 10-day suspension, will result in the impacted player's IMMEDIATE EXPULSION from the club.
PLAYERS will receive a VERBAL WARNING and 5-DAY SUSPENSION FROM PRACTICES, TOURNAMENTS and TEAM ACTIVITIES for any of the following infractions:
- Intimidating, harassing, yelling at and/or approaching the officiating "support" crew, any hired officials, CHiX players, parents and/or coaches, or any opposing players, coaches or parents while at club tournaments
- PDA (public display of affection) by a player with a significant other at any AiR CiTY CHiX' event or function (including practices & tournaments, practice sites & tournament sites/hotels, and team activities).

GRiEVANCE PROCEDURE Should a concern or problem arise, AiR CiTY CHiX wants to ensure that the situation is handled in an appropriate manner and that all parties are involved in productive, open communication. Our grievance procedure has been established to facilitate this type of communication.
First Level
- Players are encouraged to maintain an open dialogue with coaches and to schedule a meeting to discuss any type of problem issue.
- Players AND parents are encouraged to discuss any club-related problems with one another PRIOR TO scheduling a family meeting with coaches.
Second Level
- If, after First Level attempts, a problem still exists; parents and/or athletes may request a meeting to discuss the issue at hand. This meeting will include both coaches, the athlete and the athlete's parent(s)/guardian(s).
- This Second Level meeting will be a privately held, pre-scheduled meeting. Coaches will not discuss problem issues at tournament sites or during practice times - please be respectful of this and do not approach a coach during these times with the intention of discussing a problem situation.
Third Level
- If First and Second Level attempts at resolution are unsuccessful, parent(s)/guardian(s) may request a meeting with the club director.
- This meeting will be a privately held, pre-scheduled meeting that will include the Club Director, coaches of the team, player and player's parent(s)/guardian(s). The Club Director will not discuss problem issues at tournament sites or during practice times - please be respectful of this and do not approach the director during these times with the intention of discussing a problem situation.
Final Level
- If all other attempts have been unsuccessful, the parent(s)/guardian(s) may request a meeting with the Board of Directors.
- This meeting will be a privately held, pre-scheduled meeting that will include Board Members, Club Director, team coaches, player and player's parent(s)/guardian(s).

WiNTER WEATHER POLiCiES
- Should a Level 3 snow emergency be declared in either MONTGOMERY or GREENE county, the directors of AiR CiTY CHiX will make a decision to cancel practices and will NOTIFY HEAD COACHES via text message. Head coaches will then be responsible for communicating this info out to their respective teams. PARENTS & PLAYERS should not contact the club about practices during winter weather situations; please let us monitor the situation, make a decision and communicate that out to YOU. In the case of a Level 3 snow emergency as indicated above, the club will also post a notice on the home page of our website IF we are cancelling practices.
- In case of bad weather that does NOT result in a Level 3 snow emergency being declared in Montgomery or Greene County, HEAD COACHES will monitor weather leading up to their practice times - we are asking them to monitor 2 hours, 90 minutes, and 60 minutes prior to scheduled practices. If the HEAD COACH either isn't able to safely get to/from bales arena themselves OR if they feel the conditions are unsafe for travel to/from practice, they will make a decision to cancel practice.
- A decision will be made no less than 60 minutes prior to your practice time for THAT day (please keep in mind that things could change as we move through the day/evening, so IF we have a significant split in practice times, decisions will be made for EACH team individually by head coaches.)
- Coaches may not notify you if practice is "ON" but only if practice is cancelled or delayed. Basically, no news means we're "on" - if you are uncertain, please CONTACT YOUR HEAD COACH not the club directors.
- Please note that practices will NOT be cancelled simply on the prediction of bad weather - we will begin monitoring two hours before practice, will watch the situation and will go from there.
- Please DO NOT CALL CLUB DIRECTORS AMIDST BAD WEATHER FOR A STATUS - unless there is a Level 3 snow emergency issued, the CLUB is not making practice decisions during winter weather, we are leaving this in the hands of head coaches.
- PLEASE NOTE: If your team is still holding practice, but YOU are unable to safely make it to practice due to the weather, it is your responsibility to notify your coach. As long as you notify your coach, this absence will not be counted against you.
- TOURNAMENT SITUATIONS: It is very, very rare that club volleyball tournaments are cancelled due to winter weather - it just simply is not done. There are some instances where the start times are delayed and that would be communicated to COACHES who will then communicate the info to you. When winter weather is predicted and you have a tournament that could be impacted by that weather, you should make plans to allow for extra travel time or book overnight accommodations as needed. Please DO NOT contact tournament directors for weather status amidst bad weather, you are simply complicating things - the COACHES will be notified of any changes due to weather and they will then contact you. Again, no news means no changes.
And, please remember, it IS winter and we ARE going to get some inclement weather and, undoubtedly, some snow... when you are out and about, please slow down, allow extra travel time, and drive safely!

- We are straightforward and honest - you may not always like what you hear, but it will be honest information that is presented in a direct and fair manner.
- We will COACH and be passionate about it - our coaches will be actively involved in coaching and instruction both during practices and tournament play.
- Quality tournaments with minimal tournament travel - even our higher level teams aren't travelling much more than 2-3 hours.
- Each team has two coaches who are actively participating in ALL practices AND tournaments.
- Instructional opportunities for younger players and those who may not be able to make a full committment to a club team.
